Andy Hamilton is a Jesuit priest. He has been teaching systematic theology and church history at the United Faculty of Theology since 1976. The focus of his teaching has been on Christology, the Sacraments and the history and theology of the Early Church. His teaching is currently half-time. He also works at Jesuit Communications Australia, whose magazines include Eureka Street, Australian Catholics and Madonna. He has contributed extensively to these magazines, and also to a range of other theological journals and religious magazines.

Andy has had an interest in refugee communities and issues, being involved in community groups. He has served for many years as Chaplain to the Melbourne Laotian and Cambodian Catholic communities, and has written widely on refugee issues.

After joining the Society of Jesus in 1957, he studied Arts at Melbourne University, and was one of the first Catholic students to take out the Bachelor of Divinity from the Melbourne College of Divinity. He subsequently completed postgraduate studies at Oxford, his dissertation being on the theology of St Athanasius.
