Gregory Jacobs SJ Ordained to the Priesthood [Updated 01 May 2008]

Congratulations to Fr Gregory Jacobs SJ who was ordained to the priesthood at Sacred Heart Church in Kooringal, Wagga Wagga, NSW on Saturday 29 March 2008.

Greg's parents Cath and Albert hail from Holland; he himself was born in Ballarat and moved to Wagga at the age of two, schooling later at Sacred Heart Primary School, with high school at St Michael's Regional High School and Trinity. Greg says that his inspiration for joining the Society of Jesus came from admiring the variety of opportunities for service which the Jesuits offered, and their aim of "finding God in all things".

At JTC, he did the standard theological studies for priesthood, but also developed a special interest in studying the relationship between faith and science; he hopes to follow this further in his work for the Society and the Church.

Greg's parents, his brother Anthony and sister Bernadette and his twin Chris were at the ordination, joined by his Jesuit brothers and his friends from Wagga, Melbourne and more widely, with some members of the family who came from Holland.

Greg's Mass of Thanksgiving was at the same church on the following day.
