David Braithwaite was born in Sydney in 1973 and educated at St Aloysius' College Junior School from 1980 to 1984 and then St Ignatius' College, Riverview from 1985 to 1990.

He has completed three degrees at the University of Sydney in the areas of philosophy, public policy, and international relations. David worked in the family insurance business as a manager for several years. He has two theology degrees.

David is currently in regency.
